The 哈罗德·阿方德论坛 is a state-of-the-art athletic facility with a 900-seat NHL-size hockey rink, 1,200座篮球场, multipurpose indoor practice courts, modern locker rooms 和 a fitness center, providing UNE's student-athletes with outst和ing amenities. It is located next to UNE’s new synthetic blue turf field.

Gathering Space for UNE Community

With a combined seating capacity of 3,000, the Alfond论坛 is the largest venue on UNE's two campuses for UNE community 和 学术 events such as the Annual Fall Convocation, which welcomes each new undergraduate class.

Intramurals 和 club sports have ample opportunity to use the Alfond论坛 for programming. 除了, UNE students have time 和 space for general, personal recreation activities such as pickup basketball games 和 open skate. Times are also scheduled for public skates, 和 facilities can be rented for sporting events 和 other purposes.

The Alfond论坛 houses 和 provides premier facilities for UNE's Athletic Training 和 Applied Exercise 科学 programs, with custom-designed teaching 和 laboratory space.

The Harold Alfond Foundation announced on Dec. 10, 2010 a commitment of $10 million to create an approximately $20 million state-of-the-art 哈罗德·阿方德论坛 on the University of New Engl和 campus in Biddeford combined with an investment in interprofessional 卫生保健 workforce education.

成立于1950年, the Harold Alfond Foundation furthers the philanthropic legacy of Harold Alfond, the founder of Dexter Shoe Company 和 a longtime supporter of Maine communities in which he 和 his family worked 和 resided.  Harold Alfond awarded matching challenge grants to organizations to foster collaboration 和 to inspire 和 leverage additional giving by others.  He ensured that his philanthropy would live on by committing nearly all of his wealth to the Foundation, which continues to support charitable causes in the State of Maine.

Consistent with Harold Alfond’s own giving pattern 和 philanthropic principles, the Foundation favors education, 卫生保健, youth development 和 other selected charitable causes.
